Remy Moore, a bright but isolated boy, found solace in mystery novels and math. A man named Zayne recognized Remy's diligence and introduced him to code-breaking and pattern-prediction. Unaware that Zayne was feeding him real data about supposed enemies, Remy viewed it as a game and mastered it. After being captured by the Scrappers, Remy learned of his unwitting involvement in harming people. He sought redemption and used his skills to aid the Scrappers, eventually volunteering to become the Hunter known as "Weaver."

In the aftermath of the Starfall catastrophe, the Scrappers, Earth's tenacious survivors, have managed to thrive underground. Despite the adversities and a shortened lifespan due to Starfall's radiation, their vibrant culture of trade, music, and celebrations persists. Determined in their ideals, they aim to heal Earth and challenge the corporations denying them a future in space.
